"Coromandel is a rich patchouli-amber fragrance with a polished woody character and an elegant, luxurious presence. Its opening combines bitter orange, neroli, and citrus brightness before moving into a heart centered on patchouli, orris, rose, and jasmine. Benzoin, incense, olibanum, musk, woods, and Tahitian vanilla create a warm and balsamic foundation. White chocolate adds a smooth gourmand nuance without making the composition overtly edible. The Eau de Toilette version is known for a brighter, more lifted balance than later richer interpretations. It remains one of Chanel's most distinctive artistic fragrances from the Les Exclusifs collection."

Coromandel takes its name from the lacquered screens and decorative objects associated with the Coromandel Coast tradition.
The Eau de Toilette was later replaced in Chanel's lineup by a richer Eau de Parfum-era interpretation.
