"Cristalle Eau de Toilette is a classic Chanel women's fragrance created by Henri Robert and launched in 1974. It is widely described as a green chypre with a bright citrus opening, a cool floral heart led by hyacinth, and a dry mossy-vetiver base. Contemporary and retrospective reviews consistently portray it as crisp, luminous, elegant, and somewhat aloof rather than sweet or heavy. The perfume became especially associated with warm-weather wear because of its sparkling, refreshing character. In 1993, Chanel introduced a separate Eau de Parfum interpretation by Jacques Polge, but the EDT remains the original and most classically green expression of Cristalle."

Cristalle was created by Henri Robert, the same perfumer behind Chanel N°19, which helps explain the stylistic kinship often noted between the two.
Chanel reportedly introduced the Eau de Parfum in 1993 partly to give Cristalle a richer, less seasonal identity beyond its strong summer associations.
