"Shalimar Eau de Parfum is one of the foundational oriental/amber fragrances in modern perfumery and a flagship creation of Guerlain. Created by Jacques Guerlain and launched in 1925, it is built around a striking contrast between sparkling bergamot and a rich vanilla-balsamic base. The fragrance is closely associated with the house's famous Guerlinade signature, giving it a powdery, resinous, sensual character. Over time it became renowned for its smoky, leathery, slightly animalic depth as much as for its luminous citrus opening. Though reformulated across decades, the perfume's identity remains that of a bold, opulent, unmistakably classic amber floral."
Raymond Guerlain's Shalimar bottle won first prize at the 1925 Paris Decorative Arts Exhibition.
