"Nombre Noir is a dark, rich floral-amber-woody perfume created during Shiseido's more experimental fragrance period. Its character centers on a plush rose and osmanthus effect, supported by earthy woods, amber, honey, and soft spice. The composition has a highly perfumey depth, with a distinctive damascone-like red-fruit and red-wine impression. Serge Lutens and Jean-Yves Leroy created the fragrance for Shiseido in 1982. It became a cult classic appreciated for its complexity and unusual balance of floral richness and shadowy woods. The original Parfum is now regarded as a discontinued collector fragrance rather than a regular retail release."
