"Opium Parfum is a rich, dramatic amber-spicy fragrance that helped establish Yves Saint Laurent as a major force in perfumery. Its opening combines citrus and fruit accents with dry spices, creating an immediately vivid and assertive introduction. The heart expands into a dense floral-spicy blend of jasmine, rose, carnation, cinnamon, peach, and orris. Its base is deeply resinous and woody, with sandalwood, cedarwood, myrrh, opopanax, labdanum, benzoin, amber, musk, and animalic castoreum.
